A Kaleidoscope of Color

sponsored by Landscape Structures

Color is everywhere. Its impact is often more deeply felt than expressed. Color is just as important to the play experience as form. When applied with thoughtful inspiration, the right color choices can play across all playstructure materials to add visual texture and sculptural interest.

With this in mind, Landscape Structures Inc., a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, developed a selection of gorgeous and rich proprietary colors. It’s an intentional shift to provide park and playground designers with better options and introduce the world to a fuller spectrum when it comes to playgrounds.

A team of the company’s playground designers looked at a cross-section of trends—built environments, graphics and fashion design—in addition to nature to find colors that were exciting but not too trendy. The group was able to identify “gaps” in current color offerings, then moved forward with colors that would complement the existing playground colors and offer the most variety in color palettes.

The result is a brilliant collection of playground colors featuring nature-inspired shades, urban tones, playful hues and everything in between. Each imaginative shade has been carefully selected to be both current and enduring. Even more, the benefits these innovative colors deliver are numerous:

– Nature-inspired colors like the new Pebble, Slate, Seafoam and Copper allow children to engage in a playground design that creates a calming experience. This is because tones that reflect the outdoors are familiar to children.

– Unlike the average toy, which is meant to drive visually loud experiences, natured-inspired playground colors help children focus. This is particularly beneficial for children with sensory processing disorders who often seek soothing environments. The tones Sky, Peacock, Leaf, Sprout and Buttercup are meant to replicate the calming sense of sky gazing or playing in a garden.

– Our newest colors offer a matte finish with a subtle metallic sparkle so when the sun hits the paint, it offers a beautiful surprise.
