From the jury statement: Folds works above all as sculpture-play-scape. While the design tools are simple, they offer a layered complexity within this simplicity, so as to cater for various uses. The play of shapes, levels and morphology makes it interesting to the various age groups of the nearby kindergarten as well as children from the area. The project is about the play between two materials which reflects geological processes that formed the Jura Mountains. In this way it establishes a unique and strong visual language and an engaging playground. On a larger scale it enriches the well-known modernist design approach of the surrounding residential area; the contrast between the orthogonal housing and more nature-inspired landscape forms.

A key public space of the major urban plan for La Duchère, this park revitalises a geography that has been mistreated by history while developing “urban nature” that links and bonds the area together. Used as a spoils storage site during the creation of the “Grand Ensemble” major housing complex, this small valley was mistreated over time by water engineering works (pipes) that are purely functional.

Ilex landscape architects shared with us new photos of Parc des Iles, so we are bringing it back in focus. Enjoy!

The project creates a garden square, a visible and prestigious, simple and attractive project in total harmony with the 19th century architectural composition of the adjacent Haussmann-style apartment buildings.

A new organization of the main station has involved the demolition of the existing memorial. The city of Besançon has wanted to create a "place of remembrance" that would incorporate elements of the ancient monument and could also welcome all commemorations of Remembrance.

Located in Lormont, on the right bank of Bordeaux, the Genicart district is a housing estate built in the sixties. In addition to restoring the buildings (Lan Architecture), the project proposes to create green ways, sporting equipments, traffic lanes and socializing sites in order to totally transform this district making it a contemporary car-free area.

The city of Perreux-sur-Marne has rethought its entire relation to its river, considering it as a major environmental, social, urban and political issue. The project aims at bringing back both the people and other species of plants and animals to the banks of the river Marne, by softening the water and urban edges. Concrete protections are turned into vegetal engeneering, and overflood is accepted, widening the spectrum of environements.

BASE shared with us their recently complete park in Lyon. Park includes various ambiences such as forest, meadow, garden, green amphitheater, misty playground, trunk forest, plus a fitness and a picnic area. The site is situated in an area of Lyon that before the completion of this park lacked open social space.

Landerneau is built around its river, the Elorn. Rethinking the public spaces along the quays therefore means rethinking the town’s relationship with its river. The quays arranged as a big, linear park on both of the river’s banks are a natural breathing space in the town and a place to experience its urban history.

Located amid the natural areas of the Thalie Valley, albeit on a former landfill site at the edge of the railway infrastructure in neglected areas, and in a flood zone, the challenge of the project is to manage the transition of the site while taking account of pollution and flooding constraints. The Parc de la Thalie (Thalie Park) provides a connection between the amenities (a new hospital and a medical centre) and the public spaces at the entrance to the town of Châlons-sur-Saône.
