The lock house remind the Long village history that has been strategically located on river Somme, mainly based on peat’s trade. Today, this bike road uses the old towpath and its developing river tourism; lock house has become a strategic gateway to the national natural park called Baie de Somme 3 vallées.
Destock Garden evokes river history trade and express “nature at work” richness. Covered with gravel, garden mixes plants from wasteland, which remind pioneers on abandoned land, and from alpine environment, which express the richness and diversity of poor and draining soil vegetation. These plants produce floristic events spread over the seasons, promoting the biodiversity development.
This “nature at work” is protected and emphasised by wooden structure and benches. Benches line shows boat passing through lock, and amazing village heritage to habitants, cyclists and walkers going threw.
