Purple Pleasure

Carve: was asked by the municipality of Haarlemmermeer to design a small sports field with extended possibilities. In general, these courts in public space are designed to play soccer, at best also to play basketball. By adding two functional designed sides and integration with the existing landscape, a versatile place for young and old has arised. By designing both sides of the sunken court in different ways, skating, sitting, basketball and soccer are combined in one facility. One side of the court consists of a layered lounge area, the other side of the field has a skate-able edge with elements like banks, transitions and boxes. This side runs into the adjacent slope in punctiform folded slabs, following the inclined terrain. The intense color of the lounge area, skate area and sports court gives the place a unique and recognizable identity in the landscape. This place has already become a hotspot for young people from the surrounding area to meet together for sports or skating.
